Students Affairs Department at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology is one of the dynamic departments, where the students’ facilitation is practiced. It is an integral arm of CIIT which coordinates all matters relating to students facilitation within the CIIT. It opens its doors before the students, from the moment they enter the Institute and looks after them just as one does with a tender plant. This Department functions as a friend and guide of a student, catering to his/her needs from the time he makes the first inquiry regarding admission to the time he graduates from it. To enrich the lives of the students, it polishes all aspects of their personality and develops them in required manner.

Students Affairs Department we define students as the axis of the educational and academic process and as the ultimate objective for our existence. We aim to take care of the students, to solve their problems and develop their potential, so that their academic knowledge is melted in the crucible of integrated personality. When coupled with a challenging academic experience, these services and opportunities facilitate the students' total development so that they attain their educational goals as individuals prepared to function successfully as leaders within diverse, multicultural and international world.

As an administrative department, initially under the leadership of worthy Rector, in addition, be responsible for the daily administration of students and their requests, grievances, or problems as the foremost priority. The Department liaises with other CIIT departments and academic faculties to ensure that each and every individual approaching Students Affairs Department is well attended.

Mission

The mission of Department is to provide students with effective services and developmental opportunities that augment their academic experience and enhance the quality of their lives while enrolled at CIIT.

Functions

The core function of the Students’ Affairs Department is to provide assistance and services to the students with the aim of saving their time and effort.

Among the duties of the Department are the following:

  • Assessing the level of services provided to the students and submitting proposals for improving them
  • One window clearance facility
  • Contributing to solving the students requests/grievances on campus
  • Transport facilities for students
  • Registration for the academic year
  • Signing up for courses and examinations
  • Distribution of DMC/Degree/Certificates
  • Examination schedule information
  • Handling lost and found
  • Daily administration of students
Professional Relationship
  • Student Affairs personnel provide professional and support services in an educationally purposeful manner which promotes student learning and enhances the rights and welfare of students.
  • Student Affairs personnel respect each student's rights and responsibility for his/her own behavior.
  • Student Affairs personnel promote responsible behavior for students and refrain from any action that may demean the dignity and personal development of students.

Procedure

We adhered to following procedure in handling requests/ grievances/ complaints of students:
Step 1:
The discussion of the problem by the student and academic staff concerned. It is anticipated that majority of cases could be resolved at that personal level without recourse to other steps.
Step 2:
If that proves unsatisfactory, the Department discusses the matter informally with the Head of Department/Faculty who attempts to address/ resolve/ mediate as required.
Step 3:
If step 2 fails to satisfy, the Department presents a written request (to the Head of Department for a reply.
Step 4:
Upon receipt of a written request, the Head of Department reviews the case and resolves it. On completing its assignment, prepares written recommendation and the Department informs the student about the recommendations.
Step 5:
If the decision is still not acceptable, the matter is presented to the Provost who will make a final determination.
