Faculty Development Unit

Transforming the thinking patterns of the future generation demands more from faculty than merely delivering of lectures and communicating technical information mechanically, through conventional methods of teaching. CIIT has laid great emphasis on developing a competent team of faculty members who takes its job responsibility as a sacred trust and are passionate about teaching and research. Keeping this in mind, its Faculty Development program (FDP) was established in 2004 to enhance the skills of faculty members and streamline the education system of CIIT and constantly updating it with modern pedagogical techniques in education. The unit strives to develop these skills by organizing numerous training programs at all campuses and especially focuses on training young faculty members.

Since inception, FDP has conducted over 35 workshops, conferences and training in which more than 500 faculty and staff members have participated. During the initial phase, the focus of most of these training was on orientation and development of the newly inducted young faculty that were given a primer in a broad range of topics covering ‘classroom management’, ‘time management’, ‘assessment techniques’, ‘how to manage lessons effectively’, ‘conflict resolution’ and many other related subjects.

More recently, workshops have also been organized on such topics as: analysis of data using SPSS; de-stressing the distress; a proactive approach for female faculty and staff; train the trainer workshop on counseling skills; IP awareness; patent filing procedure; global changes and the way forward; teaching and evaluation in computer science, electrical engineering; nanotechnology as a multi disciplinary subject, faculty development workshops and knowledge of ICT for development.
