Forum 2008: Looking Ahead Abbotabad, August 11 - 13, 2008

The Directorate of Academics, Principal Seat organized the Strategic Planning meetings of the Forum 2008 at the CIIT Abbotabad. In this First Strategic Planning conference of COMSATS Institute of Information Technology- “LOOKING AHEAD” The Rector, Directors, Deans of Faculties, Chairmen and Head of Departments and the Administrative heads-Principal Officers including Director Academics, Director Planning & Development, Registrar, Treasure, ILO, Controller of Examinations and their representatives from all CIT campuses attended the conference. All types of arrangements including conference room, refreshments, hotel arrangements and all other allied services were made by the CIIT Abbotabad.

The Directorate of Academics supervised all the activities of this strategic planning conference and ensured the 100% participation in this meeting. Approximate 200 participants participated in the forum from all the campuses of CIIT nationwide.

Dr. S. M. Junaid Zaidi, S. I, Rector CIIT presided over the meeting and the following were in attendance who delivered their respective presentations on various topics

Dr. S. M. Junaid Zaidi, S. I, Rector CIIT, summed up this strategic planning meeting and said in general that the purpose of this forum was to facilitate the better decision making at all levels. He said that we must have got ourselves committed to the quality higher education for the country and having a name in the top institution of quality education in world also. He said that we should have our presence in the remote areas of Pakistan and to provide affordable modern education in diverse fields. He congratulated Dr. Haroon Rashid, Director Abbotabad Campus and Dr. Muhammad Azim, Director Academics for organizing this very successful conference and said that we had achieved 90% of the targets set for this meeting. The main objective of this strategic planning meeting was to defining the strategic position for the institution and to present a better scenario to the institution stakeholders. He said that due to the commitment to academics and research, the CIIT has been ranked at fifth position for research productivity by HEC and the CIIT Abbottabad campus has been certified by ISO 9001:2000. He in this regards acknowledge the service of Dr. Khalida Inayat Noor and Dr. Khalid Noor for their research publication which also highly contributed for bring the name of this Institute to fifth number.
